Piscataway is a big township with subdivisions, campus edges and older neighborhoods along the river. Whole streets here were planted at once, so the trees are reaching full size together and the pruning work arrives in waves. We match the method to the lot — crane where there is room, rigging where there is not.

Tree Removal
If a tree is a known hazard and it falls on your neighbor's property, that is generally your problem, not theirs. A written assessment before anything happens is worth having, and it is part of what we give you with the quote.
Timing matters more than people expect. Most species take pruning best while dormant, when the wounds close cleanly and you are not inviting pests to a fresh cut in the middle of summer.
Stumps are an open invitation. Carpenter ants and termites move into decaying wood, and once the colony is established it is a short trip to the shed, the deck or the house.
The most common planting mistake is the species, not the technique. A tree that is charming at six feet can be a problem at forty, and the time to think about mature spread and root run is before it goes in the ground.
The dangerous part of a storm is often what did not fall. Hung-up limbs come down later without warning, frequently on whoever went out to start clearing up.
Piscataway Lets You Take Three Trees a Year Without a Permit
Piscataway's Chapter 30 gives homeowners a clear allowance: on a single-family lot of one acre or less with a house already on it, you can remove three trees or fewer in a calendar year with no permit. Past that, the application goes to the Department of Community Development, whose Director has sole approval authority for residential work.
The cost is real when it applies — a $100 filing fee plus a $200 inspection fee for a site of an acre or less. Hazard trees carry no fee at all if you have the supporting letter the Township requires. One caution: the Township's January 2025 permit form and the November 2024 ordinance disagree on the size threshold, the form saying over 3 inches and the code saying 2.5, and they disagree again on payment in lieu of planting. We confirm both with Community Development rather than quoting you a figure that may not be the one applied at the counter.

Excellent crew that expertly lollipopped a huge oak to get it above my power lines. They also pruned a silver oak for me. The work was professional and the cleanup was perfect. Highly recommend Wayne’s.

Wayne’s recently removed a rather large tree from our property. After a problematic experience with a different tree service, they were absolutely a breath of fresh air.
