Tree Service in Scotch Plains, NJ

Some lots here are tight and wooded, others open enough to bring a crane in. Tree service in Scotch Plains, NJ is decided by what the access actually allows, not by what is quickest to quote.

Licensed Tree Service in Scotch Plains, NJ

Where a town has no tree ordinance, the contractor's credentials are the only check there is. Ours: registration NJTC No. 806860, operator license LTCO No. 565 held by Peter Ahlert, and general liability and workers' compensation on every job. Dylan Ahlert owns the company.

Scotch Plains gives us both extremes. Tight wooded lots have to be rigged down in sections; open yards let us bring the crane in and finish faster with less climbing. Wind is what brings most of them down here, so crown thinning does more good than people expect.

02 Our Services

Our Residential and Commercial Tree Services in Scotch Plains, NJ

Scotch Plains’ tree canopy ranges from 1950s-era Norway maples now reaching structural decline to heritage oaks on properties bordering the southern the local county reservation. Tropical Storm Isaias (2020) and Hurricane Ida (2021) caused significant tree damage across the township, particularly on the higher-elevation western sections near the reservation.

Our crews handle aging tree removal on tight residential lots using crane-assisted techniques, perform canopy reduction on wind-exposed ridge trees, remove EAB-killed ash, and provide emergency storm response. We also serve Scotch Plains’ commercial properties, corridor.

Tree Removal Service

Tree Removal

Trees planted too close to a house cost you twice — roots into the footings, limbs on the roof, gutters full every autumn. Taking one out before it does structural damage is cheaper than the repair, and far cheaper than an emergency call after it lands.

Tree Trimming & Pruning

Limbs growing into service lines are not a DIY job and not always yours to cut. We clear what we are allowed to clear and tell you plainly when the utility has to be the one to do it.

Stump Grinding and Removal

Stump Grinding & Removal

Cut a live tree flush and it often fights back. Species like maple and locust throw suckers from the stump and roots for years, and each one has to be cut again. Grinding ends it.

Tree & Shrub Planting

Where you plant matters as much as what. Too close to a foundation, a walk or a septic field and you are choosing between the tree and the structure later on. We site it so that choice never comes up.

Fence lines and paddock edges are the jobs that get put off. Once the brush is into the wire it stops being a landscaping task and starts being fence repair.

A trunk across the driveway is not just inconvenient — it can put you on the wrong side of an ambulance route. We clear access first and deal with the rest of the tree afterwards.

Scotch Plains Has No Private-Property Tree Permit in Its Published Code

Scotch Plains is the outlier locally. The towns around it adopted tree removal ordinances; the published Scotch Plains code has none for private property. There is no tree preservation chapter, no permit, no diameter threshold and no fee — the only tree provisions cover shade trees in streets, parks and public places, which need Township Council consent.

One honest qualification. The Township's published code runs current only to December 2024, and New Jersey's stormwater permit pushed municipalities to adopt tree ordinances around that time. It is possible Scotch Plains adopted one that has not reached the published code yet. We check with the Township Clerk before starting work rather than relying on the absence of a rule.

  • No tree removal permit for private property appears in the published Township code
  • No diameter threshold, no application and no fee for private trees
  • Street, park and public-place trees need Township Council consent
  • Site-design rules can still apply to development, through the Township Engineer
  • The published code runs only to December 2024, so we confirm before starting
